#GivingTuesday: Singapore

MFG Archive

As momentum for #GivingTuesday grows around the globe, we take a look at recent news from the #GT team in Singapore.

Known in Singapore as #GivingTuesdaySG, the campaign returns for a second year with more than 200 partners and two new initiatives. The campaign is led by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, NVPC, a body that promotes and develops volunteerism and philanthropy in Singapore. We spoke to Melody Ong, Assistant Manager for Events & Projects at NVPC, to learn more.

NVPC “spearhead #GivingTuesdaySG as a way to promote and celebrate the many ways each one of us can be a giver during the festive season.” You can hear more from NVPC’s team in the video below:

In order to help grow the campaign and enhance great giving in Singapore, Melody informs us “this year, #GivingTuesdaySG launches two new campaigns: Give It Up Tuesday and Eat2Give.”

Give It Up Tuesday aims to encourage individuals to give up “a daily expenditure not necessary in their lives and donate the money to a charity” while Eat2Give is targeted at “Food & Beverage outlets where operators will pledge proceeds of a particular menu item to a charity of their choice.” To date, 74 Food & Beverage partners have been confirmed across Singapore!

It’s clear that #GivingTuesdaySG is being embraced across Singapore and we wish the team at NVPC all the best at the big day approaches – just five days to go!
